About the Event

North Shore Ocean Fest brings together top ocean educators, activities, film, ocean crafts, food vendors, live music, hula and lots of great prizes! Enjoy a free, fun-filled afternoon of ocean educators, activities, film, ocean crafts, food vendors, live music, hula and lots of great prizes! Enjoy a free, fun-filled afternoon of ocean education for all ages.

The event also honors "World Oceans Day," celebrated annually on June 8 since 2002 to promote ocean education worldwide.

This year we’ll kick-off the day with a “Run for the Ocean.” This 5K event will start at 9 am. Sign-up on Active.com today. Don’t run away after the race! You’ll want to meet the celebrity of the day, an ancient redwood-carved, Humpback Whale!  Learn about her awe-inspiring journey to circum-navigate our planet visiting countries, rich and poor, large and small to CUT CARBON EMISSIONS NOW to heal the Earth and save all people, plants and animals from certain extinction. NOAA Hawaiian Island National Marine Sanctuary and the celebrated carver, Shane Eggleton to answer questions and share information. Learn what is needed to save Humpback Whales, so important to the ocean ecosystem and how Humpback Whales are being threatened by climate change. For a free, fun-filled and educational day for all ages don’t miss Ocean Fest!

The North Shore Ocean Fest, an annual fundraiser sponsored by North Shore Ocean Education Coalition, will be held Saturday, November 6th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Bay View Lawn at the beach at Turtle Bay Resort. The theme for Ocean Fest for 2021 is “ Protecting our Humpback Whales, the Ocean and our Planet”.

Don’t forget to bring water bottles, sanitizer and your face masks. “Ocean Fest is a “Plastic FREE event. It’s a really tough habit to break but we know it’s a necessary change to protect our planet! Says Dotty Kelly-Paddock, Ocean Fest Coordinator.

The mission of the North Shore Ocean Education Coalition is to increase awareness and knowledge about the ocean, marine life, and ecosystems in order to protect, restore, and manage the use of ocean resources and inspire local and global conservation. The Ocean Fest event is one big day of learning all about the ocean!  AND with funds provided by Ocean Fest we are able to provide year-round Saturday EDventures that are aina-based, experiential activities for students. North Shore Ocean Education Coalition partners include: The National Humpback Whale Marine Sanctuary, Hawaii Marine Animal Response, Malama Pupukea-Waimea, Dolphin Quest, Kokua Hawaii Foundation, Turtle Bay Resort, Windward Community College and Hui O Hauula.
